Abstract
Understandingmolecularinteractionsinliquidmixturesiscrucialforvariousindustrialandscientificapplications. In this study, ultrasonic technology was employed to investigate the nature and power of molecularinteractions in a binary liquid mixture of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and toluene at two different temperatures(308.15K and 298.15K) using a 2 MHz frequency. Acoustical characteristics including adiabatic compressibility (βad),intermolecular free length (Lf), acoustic impedance (ƶ), relaxation time (τ), free volume (Vf), and surface tension (S) wereevaluated based on measured values of density (ρ), ultrasonic velocity (u), viscosity (ɳ), and specific conductance. Theresultsrevealedsignificantvariationsintheseparameterswithtemperature,indicatingtemperature-dependentmolecularinteractions. The calculated specific conductance provided additional insights into the conductivity of the liquid mixture.Overall, this study elucidates the complex molecular interactions in the PMMA-toluene binary system, providing valuableinformationforunderstandingitsbehaviorandpotentialapplicationsinvariousfields.
