Abstract
Present research describes the cleansing action of some daily usable and easily available detergents in the local market. Several parameters like surface tension, pH, CMC, hardness, and foaming stability were studied experimentally using different mediums such as tap water, distilled water, and ground water, along with different marketable detergents including Surf Excel, Sunlight, Safed, and Sayni. The findings indicate that the decreasing order of surface tension is Surf Excel, Sunlight, Safed, and Sayni. The cleansing action of the mediums is distilled water greater than tap water greater than ground water, while the cleansing property of the detergents is Surf Excel greater than Sunlight greater than Safed greater than Sayni. It is concluded that due to the decrease in surface tension, the critical micellization concentration of Surf Excel in distilled water is better than the other two mediums, showing better performance in distilled water where surface tension decreases and cleansing action increases.
